Combining Iyengar Yoga in Treating Children with Emotional Problems
A movement therapist working in a yoga hall with her husband, an Iyengar yoga teacher, incorporates yoga postures and props into her therapy sessions to help children with emotional and behavioral issues. She has successfully treated patients with anxiety, encopresis, and ADHD using a combination of conventional movement therapy techniques and yoga postures, such as Supta Baddha Konasana and Vrksasana. The therapist finds that yoga provides a structured and controlled environment that promotes confidence and helps children express and manage their emotions. By using yoga, the therapist is able to offer a non-invasive and effective approach to treating a range of mental health issues in children.
