Shirley's TMS Success Story - Trigeminal Neuralgia and Jaw Pain
Shirley Martin, from the Gold Coast of Australia, suffered from trigeminal neuralgia, a condition characterized by intense pain in the face, for around 7 years. Despite numerous medical tests, her doctor was unable to find a physical cause for the pain and prescribed her medication to manage the symptoms. However, the medication eventually lost its effectiveness, leaving Shirley to cope with debilitating pain that severely limited her daily activities. She became housebound and experienced anxiety and fear related to the condition. After listening to a podcast about the mind-body connection and chronic pain, Shirley discovered that her condition was likely caused by fear and misperception in her brain. She began to implement techniques for managing fear and anxiety, such as meditation, relaxation, and reframing her thoughts. With time and practice, Shirley's fear and symptoms decreased, and she was eventually able to lead a normal life, participating in social events and activities she had previously avoided.
